| An
ancient, spiritual and sacred form of Lomi-Lomi practiced by Hawaiian
shamans in the temples of Hawaii as a sacred rite of passage. This form
of bodywork holds sacred space for personal transformation, celebration,
healing from within and expanding awareness, both physically and
energetically, through heart-centered, nurturing conscious touch.
This particular style of Lomi-Lomi uses a
combination of long, gentle, and rhythmic strokes along with breath,
slow-motion movements and specialized music. There
is no set routine in this massage, the body is exposed during the
treatment to allow full-length body strokes. If requested, a sarong can
be used to cover the groin area. Temple Style Lomi-Lomi uses forearms to
deliver smooth flowing strokes down the entire length of the body, or

oriental technique |
|
|
| Gua Sha is an East Asian healing
technique. Gua means to scrape or rub. Sha is a 'reddish, elevated,
millet-like skin rash' (aka petechiae). Sha is the term used to describe
Blood stasis in the subcutaneous tissue before and after it is raised as
petechiae. Gua Sha is one technique that intentionally raises Sha rash or
petechiae. |
| Gua Sha is used whenever a
patient has pain whether associated with an acute or chronic disorder. .
There may be aching, tenderness and/or a knotty feeling in the muscles. |
| It is the fastest way in existence
to release muscular tension, and it works amazingly well to remove pain
from both recent and old injuries. Most often it is applied to the upper
back, shoulders and neck (where many people store tension and stress), but
it also can be used across the low back and buttocks and down the legs for
low back pain, sciatica, knee pain, and menstrual problems; and down the
shoulder and arm for injuries and tendonitis. I also use it for internal
problems. Anywhere there is pain, tension in the skin or muscles,
congestion, discoloration or vascular spiders is an area that may benefit
from Gua Sha. |
| The area to be Gua Sha-ed is
lubricated with oil. The skin is then rubbed with a round-edged special
instrument in downward strokes. One area is stroked until the petechiae
that surface are completely raised. If there is no Blood stasis the
petechiae will not form and the skin will only turn pink. Otherwise, the
treated area becomes darker red. It will take a few days for the redness
to disappear. The worse the treated area looks, the more the person needed
Gua Sha treatment. |

has been practiced for thousands of years for the
treatment of disease and pain. It is a form of
acupuncture that focuses on the movement of blood,
energy and body fluids, such as lymph - which circulates
around the body's tissues. |

Cupping Massage |
|
One or two cups are applied to the skin by suction, then
moved around in a gliding fashion or circular motions. By creating
suction and negative pressure, massage cupping is used to drain
excess fluids and toxins; stimulate the peripheral nervous system;
bring blood flow to stagnant muscles and skin; and loosen fascial
adhesions, connective tissue and stubborn knots and cellulite in soft tissue.
The skin will redden with strong massage cupping, indicating that
circulation has been brought to the surface.
The increased local blood supply will nourish the muscles and skin
and allow toxins to be carried away. This massage is highly
effective therapeutically and feels wonderful. People often times
describe a sensation of warmth, tingling and relaxation long after
the treatment has ended. Cupping massage usually does not result
in round bruising. |
